Newbold School is a small pleasant primary school situated in the rural North West Leicestershire village of Newbold, equidistant from and about three miles from, Ashby de la Zouch and Coalville.  The children benefit greatly from being educated in the calm countryside environment found at our school.

We accept children aged 4-11 years and we are able to offer small class sizes in order to allow for the individual needs of children within an effective learning environment.

Recently we have installed the latest interactive whiteboards to aid teaching and we also have numerous computers and associated IT facilities for the children to use.

Absence, School Rules & Behaviour
Absence

If an absence is planned we need to be notified, preferably in writing. A telephone call on the first day of illness would be helpful but a note on return to school is definitely required.

We would ask that medical appointments in school time be kept to a minimum.

The school year is made up of 190 working days for the children and apart from illness and exceptional circumstances children are required by law to attend school in order to cover the required curriculum.

The school holiday dates and the five teacher training days will be sent to all parents in advance. Parents who wish to take term holidays should request time off school from the headteacher, giving details of the dates when the children will be away. We urge parents to consider the implications of term time holidays upon their children’s progress.
School Rules
Rules are kept to a minimum, shared regularly and written by the pupils :
                                         Walk in and around school
                                         Look after our school
                                         Share
                                         Be kind to each other
Speak politely to everybody and remember our manners
Do as you are asked by an adult the first time
Behaviour
Your children come to school to learn and we all want them to succeed. We want them to be proud of their place in the school community and aim to provide a stimulating, supportive, pleasant and well-disciplined environment in which this can be nurtured. Staff work hard to provide an interesting and varied curriculum and we care too much about your child’s success to allow misbehaviour to interfere with their progress. We teach children what we consider to be appropriate behaviour in school which is summarised in our Code of Conduct.
Anti Bullying Statement

Bullying is a serious issue but it is also an emotive word and the context in which it is used is important and must be considered. Bullying arises from a wish to hurt, threaten or frighten someone deliberately, often quietly and frequently. Everyone regards bullying as unacceptable behaviour.

Bullying can be physical (pushing, kicking, taunting, name calling). It can be silent isolation, damaging someone’s property or taking property without permission. It is, however, a question of degree. Situations often happen between children but are temporary and do not constitute bullying or domination of one person over another.

Incidents that involve bullying are always treated seriously and we encourage children to speak of their concerns as soon as they occur. If you have any concerns talk to the head teacher or your child’s class teacher.
