Newbold School was originally built in 1872. Then, there were more than 180 pupils sat in rows on benches. The children came mainly from the villages of Newbold and Worthington situated in the Parish of Worthington, on the Leicestershire and Derbyshire borders.
Now, the school provides a first class learning environment for children aged 4 to 11 from Newbold and many surrounding areas.
Having less than 50 children, small class sizes and a good teacher and teaching assistant to pupil ratio ensures the children learn under the best of conditions. The friendly well qualified and approachable staff know the children well and there is a noticeable family atmosphere in the classrooms.
The Victorian Classrooms have been modernised to give light and airy classrooms with character. The school has interactive whiteboards in every classroom, good computer and IT facilities and a comprehensive library.
Thanks to the facilities and teaching staff the children do well in the various SATs tests required by the Government. The children also benefit from Newbold’s pleasant and stimulating rural location. The school falls into the catchment area for Ashby School.
There is a strong music tradition with the school being successful in a recent choir competition. Foreign language teaching is also provided and every effort is made to not only prepare children who will do well academically in secondary education but also children who are well ‘rounded’ and able to integrate well in today’s society.
Additionally, a Parent and Toddler Group and after hours facility are available on the site.
